The Power of  Friendship

Our God of Friendship and Powerful Love

Jesus is our friend. He is intense in His Love for us and His Pursuit of us. He brings wholeness through one statement (John 3:16 / Micah 7:18 / Genesis 18:17).  Oh, the Love and Power of Hope and the Power of a Friend!

Prov 18:24- “…but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

John 15:12- “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

John 15:15- “I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business.

Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”

God's friendship manifests itself through us.  Meaning, through one another, God's true love leads us, turns us to God, and turns us to Jesus, the wisdom of His righteousness.  We are friends of deep love and promise, as He was and as His Holy Spirit prompted others to be.

Phil 2:17- “But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. “

2 Sam 23:16- “So the three mighty men broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the Lord. “

Deut 13:3-4- “The Lord, your God will test you to find out whether you love Him with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the Lord, your God that you must follow, and Him you must revere. Keep His commands and obey Him; serve Him and hold fast to Him.”

2 Cor 3:18- “And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” See in one another when rightly linked.

God once showed me the 3 Levels Of Relationship: The Friend Level, the Family Level, and the Sacrificial Level.  On the first relationship level, the Friend Level, you are friends of kindness, love, and hope.  You love and impart to one another.

This isn't superficial.  It's refreshing.  God has a “Love Movement” that He wants to spread through us, and so we share friendship, helpful input, and experiences with each other.  We experience friendship in meetings and encounter where the rain of His love and hearing His voice bonds us to each other.  We can prophesy together, launch people, bring peace, reconciliation, and joy.

The First Relational Level is is an environment where we can love and serve, and then explore the possibilities at the right time for future building.  It is focused on Freedom, Fulfillment and Fun Vision imparting. We serve and it unfolds.

Hebrews 13:16 – to love is to communicate

John 10:27 – each sheep hears God's voice!

2 Cor 9:7- “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give,

not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Phil 4:3-“Yes, and I ask you, loyal yokefellow, help these women who have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel”

The Second Relational Level is the Family level where you"Build and Bless."  At this level, you experience the co-activity of Marvelous Comrades who build together.  You get to pull back the Veil of Adoration and ask God about His Heart for the community.  You not only “Bless” but you “Build” as well, using Advance Tools of Hope, Power, Life, and Love--things like Blueprints which reveal God's design for your life.

Instead of only having common acts and love, now you work together through decisions of life and love.  Like Nehemiah 3, you see all built their part of the wall in unity.  They built by family.  Each family had its members and a specific job.  You find your family and plow with them.

The Third Level of Friendship is the one most deep in God's Heart, the Sacrificial Level where you are in the long haul--you'd even die for one another.  In the Scripture, David and Jonathan were famously these kinds of friends where they built together instead of alone and they built a long ways out, for the future of Israel.  It didn't even stop for David when Jonathan was gone.

1 Sam 20:17- “And Jonathan had David reaffirm his oath out of love for him,

because he loved him as he loved himself.”

We need each other!  Through this kind of sacrificial love, first from Christ but then through us as we yeild to Christ, God heals our fractures and fissures.  He then turns our weaknesses like anger, revenge, sadness into FURIOUS LOVE!

  • He is the “God of Pursuit” through one another! -Philippians 2

  • Consider others greater than yourselves – John 13

  • The Brotherly Love of Amos 1:9 -This is what the LORD says: “For three sins of Tyre, even for four, I will not turn back my wrath. Because she sold whole communities of captives to Edom, disregarding a treaty of brotherhood. Restorers of Brotherhood. Birthing place of great lovers. Give God the love that He’s due.

  • Acts 2:42-47- “They devoted themselves to … the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts”

  • 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 – 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

  • Isaiah 60:22- “The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly.”

  • Ecc 4:9-12- “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:   If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

  • Deut 32:30- “… one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight

We are called as Christians to be a “Band of Brothers” that will adopt a Romans 5:5 attitude where, every member is important.  We are reminded continually that we are One Body in Christ, and members belong to each other.

Hope Reformers will use their gifts and abilities to help each other to be partakers of the Divine Knowledge of God.  They will  wholeheartedly listen and utilize their discovery of God to lead others into their own discovery of God.  Vibrant Worship will come forth from them, these small but mighty groups! We will be the fellowship of the burning hearts, the Communion of the Saints with hearts joined together out of love for Him!
