Adoration-

God our Friend

Lord, thank you that you have revealed yourself to us as FRIEND.  What an awesome, humble, comforting thing to have done for us!

Exodus 33:11- “So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.”

Lord you say that you speak with us face to face and plainly.  Thank you that you want us to understand, to understand You and all that You are.

Numbers 12:7-8- “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream. Not so with My servant Moses; he is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, even plainly, and not in dark sayings; and he sees the form of the Lord.”

You want us to see You and what You're doing.  You've called us to partner with you on earth and join with you in Your mission.  You wanted friends, not slaves!

John 15:14-15- “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”

How awesome and unfathomable it is to think of You, the King of the Universe, being our friend!  That we could draw near to You in this way and be associated with You.

Proverbs 22:11- “He who loves purity of heart and has grace on his lips, The king will be his friend.”

You are so humble, God, to extend this invitation and this label to us.  You then tell us if we can humble ourselves in this way as well, that You will invite us into higher and higher realms with You.  We can become a CLOSE friend of yours and be around You at your table.

Luke 14:10- “But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you.”

We will tell the world of our friendship with You!

Song of Songs 5:16- “His mouth is most sweet, Yes, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, And this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem!”

Oh Lord, we want so much for the world to be brought into this great friendship with You.  This is what they need!  This is what will restore their souls!

Romans 5:10- “For since we were restored to friendship with God by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be delivered from eternal punishment by his life.”

Proverbs 19:22 NIV- “What a person desires is unfailing love.”

We thank you for this unfailing Love, God.  That you invented unfailing love.  Our love in our own flesh may fail, but You Never Fail.

John 15:13- “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

Your friendship was created through Your own sacrifice.  You offered your life to befriend many.

You befriended those with a heart to love You:

John 13:23- “Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.”

You befriended those with faith to believe in You:

James 2:22-23- “Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.”

You befriended those who were sleeping, to call us to eternal friendship with You:

John 11:11- “These things He said, and after that He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus sleeps, but I go that I may wake him up.”

You befriended those in adversity:

Proverbs 17:17- “A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.”
Proverbs 18:24- “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

You befriended the sinners, the unlovely:

Luke 7:34- “The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!”

You even befriended those who couldn't be loyal to You:

Matthew 26:50- “But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.”

You befriended All.  You put your heart on the line.

John 3:29- “He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled.”

Your heart was fulfilled by our friendship to You, and we are fulfilled by Your friendship to us!  We inclinde our hearts to hear yours every day!

Proverbs 27:9- “Ointment and perfume delight the heart, And the sweetness of a man’s friend gives delight by hearty counsel.”
